چکیده

Abstract Ground support is widely implemented to mitigate dynamic rock failures in underground mines. This paper investigated the ground requirements burst-prone mines catastrophic of and/or coal bursts. First, principles and considerations conditions are identified. The objective a system increase capacity accommodate fracturing rockburst and, turn, minimize kinetic energy ejected material. capacities various yielding rockbolts integrated systems then using test results laboratory. Apart from absorption deformation capacity, initial stiffness rate also critical factors when applying practice. Adding rope lacing mesh strap surface elements can substantially enhance performance system. In practice, semi-analytical empirical approaches often used determine areas. Semi-analytical methods first evaluate demand burst risk zones select according their laboratory results. Alternatively, locally established rating scheme, which usually ranks based on damage conditions. outcomes this study provide insights into strategies assist mining industry develop effective control technologies.

Forecasting Rock Burst in Coal Mines Based on Neural Network

In view of disasters caused by rock burst becoming more and more serious in coal mine production, three models are established for evaluation and prediction the rock burst risk based on artificial neural network. First, ten indicators are determined which have a larger influence on rock burst. Then two back propagation network models are trained using the original data and the processed data re...

Fossil hunting in coal mines.

At the northern tip of Colombia, Jonathan Bloch hunts for fossils in the midst of spontaneous combustion fires, noxious gases laced with foul-smelling sulfur, rock-shattering explosions, and some of the largest machines in the world. “It is a weird place to work,” Bloch admits, an associate curator of vertebrate paleontology at the FloridaMuseum of Natural History, although he says he feels saf...

Overview of Ground Control Research for Underground Coal Mines in The United States

Underground coal mining continues to evolve in the U.S., and more reserves are being mined under deeper cover, with worse roof, or with interactions from previous workings. At the same time, the mining community is responding to higher safety standards and intense competitive pressures. The need for effective ground control design has never been greater. Ground control safety issues that have b...

Preventing Falls of Ground in Coal Mines with Exceptionally Low-Strength Roof: Two Case Studies

Mines with exceptionally low-strength roof (UCS <3,500 psi and CMRR <40) are much more likely to struggle with roof falls than other mines. Weak roof is a particular problem for many room and pillar mines in the Midwestern and Northern Appalachian coal basins. Traditional roof support techniques are often not up to the challenge at these operations. This paper focuses on two mines, one operatin...
